So many times, I play it safe. I just accept things, keep my head down, and ignore opportunities. Take the farmiliar path; don’t take the risk.
Trapped in this mentality can destroy initiative and encourage a more fearful approach to life. Living in fear and anxiety is brutal to one’s mental state. The person becomes paranoid, locking themselves in a prison created by their own mind.
The human spirit is meant to be advenutrous and constantly growing in confidence and knowledge.
Becoming complacent imprisons the mind and the soul, like blocking a plant from sunlight. Without sunlight and water, plants wilt and die.
So can the soul….
Each of us has one life to live out. Do we live imprisoned in the staus quo, or do we live free, making this life adventurous? The individual needs to take risks, venturing out to expand the mind and the soul. The human is a dynamic thing that needs to constantly be moving forward.
Complacency and conformity will shrivel up the soul, like a beautiful flower garden locked in a windowless room.
I am reminded of an old song that says,
Saddle up your horses. We got a trail to blaze.
Life can be a great adventure. Take the risk!
